Happy New Year!
What are you going to be seeking for your life in the year ahead? No doubt we will want what we think is best for our lives, what we think will bring us the most satisfaction in terms of pleasure, peace and security.
But how do we know what those things really are? Do we rely on our own feelings and wisdom? Do we trust in what everyone else feels, thinks and says is best? What if we or they are wrong?
Jesus Christ, whose birth we have just been celebrating again at Christmas, is described in the bible as “the wisdom of God.” (1 Corinthians 1 v 24). He says that we should: “…seek first God’s kingdom and his righteousness…” (Matthew 6 v 33). He also says: “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness for they will be filled.” (Matthew 5 v 6).
To be blessed is to be approved by God and so to have life to the full, enjoying peace and security. His righteousness is received through faith in Jesus, believing and trusting in him. So, it would be best to set our goal for this year to be seeking Jesus and loving and serving him.
May God prompt and help you to be doing that this year as one who is blessed by him.
Happy 2020 from all at Kidderminster Evangelical Church. You are welcome to come to join with us at any of our meetings and activities in the year ahead.
